Why did you run for this position? Warwick Law Sports has given me some incredible experiences in the last 2 years, so I figured running for Sports Officer would be the perfect opportunity for me to give a little something back. I’m also looking forward to ‘getting my Jose Mourinho on’ at the Football trials without fear of missing the cut myself! Describe your role in the Law Society In previous years, Sports Officers have carried out their role largely in isolation from the rest of the Society, but this year promises unprecedented cooperation with all corners of the Society. My role is to provide regular sporting events to help alleviate the stresses of your courses, providing opportunities to meet new people and learn new skills. It almost goes without saying that maintaining the excellent reputation of the Society’s Sports teams socially and competitively is a massive part of my role as well! Career aspirations Partner, Commercial Litigation Describe yourself in 5 words Competitive, Diligent, Honest, Quick-witted, Dependable What hobbies do you enjoy? I love watching live Stand-Up Comedy and Music, Sports (suprisingly)… i.e. Table Tennis, Football, Badminton, Tennis, Squash, Snooker, Pool, Cricket, F1, Speedway (you name it, I probably follow it…) Favourite place to be: Edinburgh, Scotland Favourite song: Fishing for a Dream – Turin Brakes Who / What inspires you? Graham Obree – Scottish cyclist in the early 90’s Best memory of last year: Scoring winning penalty for the Law Society Football Team in the Champions League Semi-Final sudden death Shootout Best piece of advice for freshers: Do absolutely EVERYTHING in Year 1! Pro-Bono, Sports, Socials, Firm Open Days, Law Ball, Kasbah… And show A LOT of love to your cleaner! Any final words? “Diligence is the Mother of good luck” Benjamin Franklin. [But…] “You don't have to do it straight away, but just do it before it gets really bad” Karl Pilkington
