Future Visions
Our Future Visions
TWe are constantly trying to improve upon the Pro Bono opportunities afforded to our members. Our ambitions for next year include:
1/ Successfully launching the Pilot Law Clinic under the joint auspices of the Law Society and the Law School and with the support of a local law firm. .
2/ An Innocence Project where students get to work in legal scenarios in which the defendant maintains innocence and seeks to take their case to appeal.
3/ One-off mass events, involving all the projects together, to raise awareness and funds for any current legal issue that we feel passionately about.
4/ Encouraging students to undertake research projects on issues that go to the heart of Pro Bono, like Femin Itijihad, by applying for Undergraduate Research Scholarship Schemes and Lord Rootes Bursaries. Besides nurturing research skills, it will also give students the opportunity of becoming published in academic journals.
5/ Expanding out international ties and prospects. We are committed to offering our assistance not only at home but across the globe where people need it most. However, funding is desperately required to enable our students to travel to such areas and share their knowledge of development and human rights available to them which is not vastly needed.
